Alexander the great was the king of Macedon, an ancient Greek kingdom. He is one of the most succesful military commander in the world history. He created one of the largest empires in history, starting from Greece to northwestern India when he was only 30.
After his victory in Battle of Chaeronea, Philip II ( Father of Alexander the great) decided to invade Persia in 338 BC. He sent a group of commanders and 10.000 of soldiers to Anatolia to prepare for invasion in 336 BC. He started his plan but after a short while Philip II got murdered and Alexander the great took over his father’s place.
Alexander's army crossed the Dardanelles in 334 BC with thousands of soldiers. During his conquest of the Persian Empire, he also invaded Cappadocia too. He appointed Ariarrathes I to control Cappadocia and after that he founded the Kingdom of Cappadocia in 323 BC.
