What to Eat In Cappadocia Turkey

Cappadocia is especially known for its testi kebabi (pottery kabab) which is a must-try in Cappadocia. Testi kebabi is a type of kebab that meat and vegetables are stewing inside an earthenware pot which boils slowly inside stone oven or tandoori. Also during Ottoman Empire’s late era, there was an exchange of population between Greece, Balkan countries and Turkey. In that time peoples who are coming from this countries, they have moved to Cappadocia and obviously they have brought their culture and cuisine too.

During the time that you spend in Cappadocia you also can try Turkish tapas, turkish style dumplings (manti),tandır soup, traditional Turkish beans, Dugu soup and stew with chickpeas, gendirme (keskek), apricot stew with lamb meat, zerde pilav. If you want to try out about sweet flavours in Cappadocia you can experience dolaz, quince dessert and kuru kaymak.

Except from that, Capapdocia area is also famous for its grape quality and obviously it makes Cappadocia wines tastes delicious. You can visit Turasan winery in Urgup to taste and get one for yourself to drink while watching beautiful sunset in Cappadocia.
